How Great Thou Art
Words and Music by Stuart K. Hine

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wander
I hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,

When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”

Call to Worship

As we gather, let us lift our voices to our great God. As we remember His faithfulness, we know it’s not because He works at being faithful toward us, but because that’s just who He is. He is a faithful God and his faithfulness has been shown to us over all our years! And He’s not finished yet. His faithfulness is forever. His mercies are new every morning. He strengthens those who are weak. His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord our God and King
His love endures forever
For He is good He is above all things
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise

With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm
His love endures forever
For the life that's been reborn, His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise

Forever God is faithful
Forever God is strong
Forever God is with us
Forever, forever

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever
And by the grace of God we will carry on
His love endures forever
Sing praise, sing praise

Portions of Psalm 136 read during song interlude

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good
Give thanks to the God of gods
Give thanks to the Lord of lords
To Him who alone does great wonders
Who by His understanding made the heavens
Who spread out the earth above the waters
Who made the great lights
To the One who remembered us in our low estate
And freed us from our enemies
And gives food to every creature
Give thanks to the God of heaven
His love endures forever

Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name when I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name

Ev’ry blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in Lord still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining down on me
When the world's all as it should be
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord blessed be Your name

Prayer

Gracious God, how grateful we are for your faithfulness. You are faithful, Lord, even when we are not. For centuries your faithfulness has not been nullified by the failure of your people. We have experienced your grace so many times. Thank you, Lord, for not abandoning us when we have neglected you. Thank you for turning our despair into hope. Thank you for always being there for us. O Lord, how great is your faithfulness! Amen.

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
all I have needed thy hand hath provided
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

The Mystery of the Faith

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again!

Father of kindness You have poured out grace
You brought me out of darkness
You have filled me with peace
Giver of mercy You're my help in time of need
Lord I can't help but sing

Faithful You are
Faithful forever You will be
Faithful You are
All Your promises are yes and amen
All Your promises are yes and amen

Beautiful Savior You have brought me near
You pulled me from the ashes
You have broken ev'ry curse
Blessed Redeemer You have set this captive free
Lord I can't help but sing

I will rest in Your promises
My confidence is Your faithfulness

Benediction

2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us that, “For all the promises of God find their yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our amen to God for his glory.” As we go from this place, go in the grace and peace of our faithful God, knowing that he remains faithful no matter the circumstance and regardless of the situation. This week, remember that his promises are yes and amen.
